The Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s best known wine regions. Located north of Sydney in New South Wales, the region has played a pivotal role in the history of Australian wine as one of the first wine regions planted in the early 19th century. Hunter Valley Semillon is widely considered the iconic wine of the region but the Hunter produces wine from a variety of grapes including Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Verdelho. It is home to numerous wineries, including world-renowned brands and family-run boutique operations.
This is a cycling experience designed for cyclists by cyclists and will take in some of the most magical roads in the Hunter Valley.
But, with so many wineries in the area the cycling is only part of the experience. You will have the opportunity to visit numerous wineries to taste their beautiful wines, dine in some of the most picturesque settings available and immerse yourself in the amazing Hunter Valley Gardens.
Plus, you have the option to arrange your own accommodation or leave this all up to us and we can arrange this for you, providing you with a room in 4/5 star accommodation right in the heart of the Hunter.

Saturday
Today’s ride : 10 am departure | 117km / 72.7 miles – 1,200m / 3,937 feet
We will greet you in Newcastle at 9am and help you put your bikes together before we depart for day 1 of the tour, a 117km ride out to the Hunter Valley. The roads will be a little busier in Newcastle, the largest coal exporting harbour in the world. But it won’t be long until we are on the outer edges of the city, heading into the stunning Hunter Valley.
Our accommodation will be a welcome sight as we roll into the valley after climbing 1,200mtrs on our first day. Dinner will be at our accommodation tonight as we expect to get into town late in the afternoon.
Sunday
Today’s ride : 8am departure | 102km / 63.4 miles – 870m / 2,854 feet
After a busy traffic start to the day yesterday, today will be the exact opposite. We are taking in some of the quietest and picturesque roads in the region. The rolling hills will take us past many of the local wineries as we make our way through the lush bushland.
We plan to have you back at your accommodation in time to have a shower before we head out for lunch at the Hunter Valley Gardens. This are a ‘must see’ for anyone who visits the Hunter Valley! You’ll have plenty of time after lunch to go exploring through these amazing gardens. Make sure you wear comfy shoes for walking.
You’ll then have the rest of the afternoon to relax before enjoying dinner at one of the many beautiful restaurants in the valley.
Monday
Today’s ride : 8am departure | 115km / 71.4 miles – 950m / 3,116 feet
Today we head west from our accommodation, before we make a right turn and head north towards Singleton, which is located on the banks of the Hunter River. The Hunter River weaves its way through the Hunter Valley, rising from the Liverpool Range and ending up in the Tasman Sea at Newcastle.
More quiet roads lay ahead as we ride on many roads only used by the local farmers and wineries. Once again, we will be passing many wineries on our ride today. It’s a shame we can’t stop at all of them!
Tonight we head out to a beautiful winery for a private wine tasting and dinner. This will be a real treat.
Thursday
It’s time to say farewell and we can arrange your transfer back to Newcastle Airport.
We are also more than happy to help you with any further travel plans.
You’ll head home with amazing memories of your time cycling around this beautiful region.
